Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities assists thousands of individuals and families through a wide range of programs. In 2023, Catholic Charities provided more than 13,000 food bags, boxes, and vouchers to families in need; pregnancy and support services to more than 4,100 clients, including 2,882 children; and basic needs services to nearly 19,000 individuals, which included 149 veterans and 182 military families.

Faith Formation

The Office of Faith Formation and Lay Ecclesial Ministry provides resources, consultation, and networking for parish-level catechetical and evangelization ministries. This office provides support for 100 Parish Ministers serving across the diocese, who provide formation opportunities for thousands of young people and adults in 81 parishes.

Seminarian Formation

The Office of Church Vocations helps fund seminarians’ tuition, room, board, books, and summer ministry stipends, which amount to approximately $30,000 per seminarian per year. Seminarian formation in the Diocese of Youngstown is a rigorous program encompassing academic study, spiritual growth, and generous service to those in need.
