Did you know that during this tax season, supporters can donate to Catholic schools without spending a nickel?
Through our diocesan scholarship granting organization (SGO) called the Good Samaritan Scholarship, Ohio taxpayers can redirect part of their state tax return to the school of their choice. To promote this opportunity, the Office of Catholic Schools has partnered with the DOY Communications Department to develop a local outreach campaign to launch starting during Catholic Schools Week 2025.
We are supporting schools and parishes to take the following actions to share this opportunity with your local Catholic community:
ACTIONS FOR SCHOOL AFFORDABILITY CAMPAIGN:
- Add your “School Designation” to the SGO Contribution Form, save the edited PDF and share it with donors and/or alumni
- Create a short promo video on location at your school to explain how the SGO works & send the link or file to ccapper@youngstowndiocese.org
- Share the attached School Affordability Flyer or edit our template in Canva to make your own school-specific version
- Add links on your website to our affordability page https://doy.org/schools/affordability and/or the SGO online donation form https://doy.org/sgo
- Use the new tool Catholic Social Media to share diocesan social media content about the campaign. Check your email for details about this new platform.
