  • Tribunal In-Service Available The Tribunal staff has made available an ongoing in-service for small groups of between 8-12 participants and generally runs approximately two hours. Interested parties should call the Tribunal at (330) 744-8451, ext. 252.

  • Eagle of the Cross 2024 Nomination Forms Nominations for the Eagle of the Cross Awards are now being accepted at the Diocesan offices until Friday, February 23rd!  It is recommended that nominators give the completed nomination to their nominee’s pastor by February 16th, so that parishes have time to mail or deliver the nomination. On February 13th and 27th, Miguel Chavez is coming to speak to and discuss with all Youth, Young Adult, Campus Ministers, and any other volunteers (ages 19+) who assist in their ministry within the Diocese of Youngstown. Session 1 is on Tuesday, February 13th (Mardi Gras!) at 9:00am – 11:00am at St Charles Borromeo in Boardman (St. Matthew Room), and Session 2 is on Tuesday, February 27th at 7:00pm-9:00pm at St Paul Catholic Church in North Canton (Parish Hall).  Please RSVP by February 8th by emailing Maddie at mdisalvatore@youngstowndiocese.org or calling at 330.744.8451 x 310.

  • Confirmation of Baptized Catholics at the Easter Vigil If there are persons who are baptized Catholic and completing their initiation at the Easter Vigil, the pastor must request permission of Bishop David J. Bonnar to confirm them.
  • Easter Vigil – March 30, 2024 The Easter Vigil will be on Saturday, March 30, 2024. In the Diocese of Youngstown, the Easter Vigil is not to begin before 8:00 p.m.
  • Celebrating the Paschal Triduum (Multiple Parishes/Locations) The Office of Worship has produced guidance and directives for the celebration of the Paschal Triduum in the circumstance of merged parishes; parishes with multiple worship sites; multiple parishes served by a single pastor.
  • The Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord Due to the timing of Holy Week, the Annunciation is transferred to Monday of the Second Week of Easter, in this case, April 8, 2024.
  • Chrism Mass – March 26, 2024 The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Columba Cathedral. All clergy are invited to concelebrate  and parishes are welcomed to send delegations of 5-7 people.
  • Saint Patrick’s Day – Sunday, March 17, 2024 Please note that Saint Patrick’s Day falls on Sunday, March 17, 2024, this year. The Fifth Sunday of Lent is to be celebrated on this day at Mass.
  • Lenten Regulations All are encouraged to participate in the traditional Lenten practice of prayer, sacrifice, and almsgiving.
  • The Light is On For You ~ An Evening of Reconciliation Every parish should plan to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation the evening of Wednesday, February 28th, 2024.

Bishop Bonnar will preside at a Mass for Life on Sunday, January 14, at 4:00 pm at St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown (154 W. Wood St.). Bishop Bonnar will offer a special Blessing of Children in the Womb to women who are with child, and their families. In addition, there will be a blessing of pilgrims attending the National March for Life in Washington, D.C. A reception will follow. All are welcome – no reservations needed.

Office of Worship - Music (Bulletin Materials)** -NEW

The Diocese of Youngstown is partnering with the Warren Civic Chorus to bring Handel’s most recognizable work to the Cathedral of St. Columba! The concert will be on Monday, December 4, 2023 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. followed by a reception in the Cathedral Hall.  A free will offering will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.

  • All Souls Remembrance Funeral Liturgy at Four Diocesan Cemeteries We offer at no charge, to anyone of any faith, who has cremated remains; a proper funeral liturgy and dignified committal performed by one of our deacons in our four cemetery chapels on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 9am.
  • Chaplet of Divine Mercy Catholic Funeral and Cemetery Services offers the Chaplet of Divine Mercy Prayer Service in the chapels of our four Cemeteries at 3:00p.m. every Friday at alternating locations.
  • Rosary at All Souls Cemetery (Cortland) Pray the Rosary at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland on the first Wednesday of the month at 10:00am in the Chapel with the Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate.
  • Rosary at Calvary Cemetery (Massillon) Pray the Rosary at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon on the first Wednesday of the month at 10:00am in the Chapel with the Sisters of the Congregation of the Divine Spirit.
