This special issue of The Catholic Echo magazine is a new edition of The March of the Eucharist—a 1951 book published by Youngstown’s first Bishop, James McFadden, to honor the 1950 jubilee year. The book told the history of each of Youngstown’s parishes at the time.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATORS

Saint Illustrator
Nate Miller is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. When his Catholic mother promised to expose her children to the teachings of the Church, she didn’t expect it would lead to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Marywood University—a Catholic university in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Outside of his fulltime job, Nate enjoys freelancing and has created designs and illustrations for his hometown church, friends, alma mater and Indiana Area High School.

Cover Illustrator
Thomas Welsh, Ph.D., is a writer, historian and illustrator based in Youngstown. As a student at Ursuline High School, he studied art under Ursuline Sister Alice Marie Morley and went on to earn a degree in fine art at Youngstown State University. Since completing his doctorate in cultural foundations of education at Kent State University in 2009, Welsh has published a revised version of his dissertation and authored (or coauthored) four books on local history. In 2024, he completed The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown: Serving the Mahoning Valley Since 1874 (History Press, 2024), which was released in time for the religious community’s 150th anniversary. Welsh is a contributor to The Catholic Echo.
