Communique | May 2025

Pope Francis greets an elderly woman as he meets with people of the Banado Norte neighborhood in the Chapel of St. John the Baptist in Asuncion, Paraguay, July 12, 2015. Pope Francis, formerly Argentine Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, died April 21, 2025, at age 88.
Hope in the Resurrection

As the global Church mourns the loss of Pope Francis, we turn with confident hope to our Resurrected Lord. Let us journey together towards the communion of body and spirit that Jesus desires for us.

Quote of the Month

Bishop David Bonnar speaks to a smiling young girl. Photo by Bob Rossiter.

“There is a close link between the hope of a people and harmony between generations. The joy of children makes their parents’ hearts leap and opens up the future. Children are the joy of the family and of society.” -Pope Francis

PARISH BULLETINS/PUBLICITY

ATTACHMENTS ARE NOW IN THE SHARED PUBLICITY FOLDER: https://bit.ly/may2025sharedoy

With the launch of Catholic Social Media (CSM), we are now uploading bulletin blurbs and prayers of the faithful in the “Resources” section of CSM. Between CSM and flyers in the Shared Publicity Folders, this has replaced the Communique Attachments folder starting in May 2025. I will still create and email a “Text Only” version of the Communique, which will also be uploaded to CSM & the Shared Publicity Folder.

The Communique collects important information provided by diocesan offices for parish ministry leaders. It also includes promotional materials for diocesan events and programs, where applicable.

Questions? Contact Meagen Farrell, Communications Manager, at communications@youngstowndiocese.org or (330) 744-8451 x275.

The printable format publication is sent by email as a PDF or Word file.

Announcements suitable or adaptable for parish bulletins are noted. Where applicable, links to attachments and graphic files are included for each office below: click to save/download the file.

Other Events & Shared Publicity

Events from around the diocese can also be found on The Catholic Echo Events Calendar. You can upload or find publicity for Catholic organizations outside of diocesan offices in our new Shared Publicity Folders. Anyone with the link can view these folders. If you are employed at a DOY-affiliated parish, school or lay organization, you can request Editor access to upload publicity materials.
